There is the bit*h creek nymph which has a woven body and I believe it has been around for a long time. This fly utilizes a overhand weave where you never let go of the materials. This differs from the granny knot weave or the crotchet weave. You can substitute a woven body on a lot of nymphs to get a different look.

Hello 2liner, Try the tiger weave if you haven't already. I stumbled across the how-to online somewhere, but I can't remember where. I like the granny weave because of the ease of tying, but the tiger weave looks pretty good although its a bit harder to do.

Take Care,

Careful where you tread 2liner. Weaving is a dangerous addictive path. :jumpy: On the other hand, embroidery thread makes great weaving material.

Old Hat is right. I had learned to weave flies several years ago and just never really went anywhere with it. A month ago I did a fly tying class at a local shop and they did a woven body stone. I am now weaving stones, czech nymphs and any other fly I can think of. Now I am branching out to try to learn a couple of new weaving methods. The only problem seems to be finding the correct name for what I want to learn.
