kodiaksalmon 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 I've had nothing but clouds and rain the past month (snowing right now) and while the hummers have been back in force, I've not had the light to catch them. But last Saturday, the Sun came out for a few hours and I got a couple of shots. (1/2500) More to come.....if the Sun cooperates.... Remember, I've had two hours of good Sun in the last month, so bear with the mediocrity of these....
Mokai 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Nice job Kodiak...Looks like a female Rufous.. What kind of lens are you using, the exif says f/1.5, wow...
kodiaksalmon 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 "exif?" Fill me in Andrew. Where are you getting that? 75-300, at about 85. That lens won't do f/1.5. I think I was f/4.6. I was shutter priority at 1/2500 and 1/2000. The camera was calling for a higher f-stop of course, but I wanted the SS to catch the wings, but still have enough light to make it work and was willing to sacrifice focal depth. I think I'll do 1/2000 next time, as I had brighten some of my shots from that day. Thanks.

Mokai 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 I have an EXIF data reader so when I right click on a web photo I can see the info.. This is what I see from your photos Camera Make: SONY Camera Model: DSLR-A100 Image Date: 2008:04:12 15:26:00 Focal Length: 75.0mm Aperture: f/1.5 ISO equiv: 400 Light Source: Daylight Metering Mode: Spot Exposure: shutter priority (semi-auto) I am starting to wonder how acurate this reader is
kodiaksalmon 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Holy smoke, that's cool! Everything looks right, except for the f stop. I think that lens only does 4.5. I probably should've had f/1.5 with that SS. If the Sun ever comes out again, I'll give it a shot with a smaller lens, as close as I am.
