flykid 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 Wool is also used for bodies on spey flies, and sometimes heads on salmon flies. You could probably use it for bodies on any regular fishing fly if you wanted to. Like a bugger with a wool body instead of chinille.
ron P. 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 . Hi. I use wool for nymph and wet fly bodies; the material looks buggy as heck and sinks like a charm, which is what you want a fly to look like and do most of the time! .
Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 Hi DAVIDM, You already have some good answers so I'll just add one additional. I like to use a small clump that I cut from the hide like it was a flat piece of yarn. When wrapped on a hook as a dry-fly body it looks really good and floats like a cork. I find the natural color makes a pretty good PMD imitation. Of course when it is dyed you can get just about any color. Take care & ...
