jared sartini 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 basically anything that represents some form of food or another should work for small stream brookies. with that in mind, i like to tie flies that are simple and impressionistic, such as a brown hackle peacock wet fly for subsurface and a foam beetle for surface fishing. BigDaddyHub 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 In the mountains of Virginia- Bead head pheasant tail, all purpose fly that fairs well no matter where you put it. Seems to work on stocked and native fish equally as well. Some of these natives even take strike indicators. Ditto for the mnts of Eastern Ky...hard to beat a size 12 BH ostrich bugger, especially on Poor Fork
Chase Creek 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 I'm partial to soft hackles, too. Partridge and _______, Stewarts Spiders, etc. But really like those ants!
FishyboY 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2009 Dry and Dropper in the mountains of VA i also like dry and droppers in PA. Pretty much you cant go wrong with a 16 adams and a 18 phesant tail----you can adjust that offering for if you are fishing a caddis hatch or such!
