Guest Report post Posted November 1, 2004 Art, yup, I always tie my leeches with one strip. I only use zonker strips, not cross cut. Just a personal preference. But I like having the hair naturally flared out. Then as it moves in the water, breathes more. It's a killer all around fly here in the NW. I've literally caught about every species in the rivers I fish with that fly except a sturgeon. I simply figure out how long the tail will be. I tie it in, then turn the hide around 90 degrees and palmer forward. I try not to overlap the skin, so it doesn't bunch up. Only cutting I do is at the eye of the hook.
