Pre 1961 Classic Bass Bug Swap

Recommended Posts

First attempt at a dazzler. Kind of hard when there really isn't a good reference to go on

Any suggestions to improve upon the fly are welcomed.

Hook: Mustad 3906B Size 8

Tail: Elk Hair

Wing; Elk Hair

Body: Olive Brown Ice Dubbing

Head: Black Ice Dubbing

Body shape looks about right just needs more glitz!

What amazes me is how similar the advertisements are to modern times.

I was wondering if they were using Cork Bugs back then.

I noticed some of the ads were run for ten years or longer, talk about getting your moneys worth.

I like the way most of the flies that I would call poppers usually had a hair wing in the front until about

1945 or so.

Doesn't loo lie we are going to get anymore takers so decide whether you want to share two flies with each tier or just one.

My vote is two but Majority rules.

Here is my latest go. Rob let me know if you think this is closer to the original Dazzler

I'm in, not sure what I'll tie yet.

So, you are giving all of the swappers a present of that 1961 Classic ball cap?

Kirk

Only have one of those hats and a 1961 American Classic Hat and my bald head need em badly.

Just checking.

I just got finished cutting some balsa plugs. I'm gonna do one of those bugs with the feather wings tied on top of the body kind of like a big moth.
