moskito_01 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2004 @ kingfihser: very good point. We will do it like that. So: which one of ya`ll wants to be counterpart "swapmeisterwise"? Counting kingfisher and hunthicks we have 11 taking part, so one more spot open. Better hurry... Of course that raises the number of flies to tie to 11. Up until now Nymphs are in the lead which would be perfectly fine with me. Andy
Kingfisher 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2004 I'm willing to volunteer to meister the swap on this side of the pond, unless someone else wants to step forward.
moskito_01 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2004 Cool, so kingfisher is the man. By the way, I have been trying to figure out what the fly I will be tying is called in English, but I can`t seem to be able to figure it out. So here`s a shot of the pattern I plan on contributing. http://www.fliegenfischer-forum.de/flyst08.html Colour may be different. We still need to decide on the size. I was thinking 14 ? B-rad 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2004 oooo I like that one I'm glad that I signed up!!!!! this will be my first swap!!!
Kingfisher 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 moskito, that look like something out of Steve Thornton's book. We would call that pattern a "scud" over here, for the most part. It's a small freshwater crustacean that inhabits lakes, ponds, and streams with ample aquatic vegetation. Typically, we don't designate a size ahead of time, although if everyone was agreeable I suppose it would be an option.
chucky 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 I'm in for the 12th spot if it's still open Chucky
moskito_01 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 You got it Chucky. It`s fine with me if we don`t pick a certain size. I like the name "scud". Reminds me of missiles. Parcticipants are: Mako Welshtyer GerardG Jimmy Aw Leaky Waders B-rad RoyChristie xrayguy kingfisher hunthicks chucky and myself That`s twelve in all, so we`re set. I suggest Sunday, January 25th 2005 as the deadline. All flies have to be sent off to either Kingfisher or myself, depending on where you live. Participnats from the US and Canada send to Kingfisher, European tiers send to me. The flies have to be packed in a small plastic box or anything comparably safe. Include an envelope adressed to yourself for shipment of the flies you get in return. Of course the neccessary postage should already be on the envelope. Kingfisher and I will send the flies to each other. They will be spread to the others from there. How should we split up the cost for shipping to and from the US? Did I forget anthing ? Everyone post if the deadline is agreed upon or make other suggestions. Andy
Kingfisher 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Are we in agreement that we'll by tying nymphs? To offset postage costs from the US to Europe, and vice versa, for Andy and I, how about each participant submit 14 flies, one extra for each of the two meisters? That is, if everyone can agree on this. The date sounds good.
