TheCream 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 Do any of you use a loop knot for bass topwaters? What is your preferred knot for tying on a surface fly for bass?
Tailn'Jax 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 http://www.doalures.com/uploads/Docs/9102_DOA_10.28__Knot_Page.pdf I use the "canoe man" loop knot, its at the top of the page on the above link. Its a good strong loop knot, but make sure you learn how to tie it properly before you hit the water, if tied incorrectly it slips very easily.
Pelhament 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 I use a repala knot for all of my bass flies, topwater and subsurface. Works great and you can make the loop as big or small as you want.

flyderaght 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 \The duncan loop is very good as it does allow the fly to move more naturally, especially subsurface. I had a conversation online with phil rowley as I had seen him do that on tv. he has found that with fishing a float and the fly on a duncan knot very effective and feels it would work well for bass. marc

perchjerker 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2011 I will admit that I am a heretic; but, I use Fast-Snaps! I use them on all my bass and bream leaders, as these fish are NOT leader shy, and they make changing flies a 'Snap'. They allow complete freedom of movement of the 'bug'. Been using them for years now. perchjerker
