flyfishermanj 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2011 Over the years I have received several boxes materials from friends who don't tie and some who do. Looking through these boxes I came across a 100 pack of Mustad 37187 in a size 4. Has anyone used this style hook for tying purposes? As a side note I am tying some articulated streamers for a swap, but I'm a little weary to use them as the back hook.
utyer 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2011 It is more traditionaly used as a deer hair bass bug hook. If your going to use it as the rear part of the streamer and cutting off the hook, then it may not matter at all.
onceahoosier 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2011 I've also tied some deer hair bass bugs on these hooks in size 2 and 6. They seem a little weak to me, light wire, prone to bend/straighten out, so I've used more Mustad 3366 and TMC 8089 hooks instead. They are much sturdier. CoachBob 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2011 The perfect hook for foam bass poppers. Never had one fail. Great shape for adding weed guards.
