Olive Wooly Bugger

Recommended Posts

Tried a bead head wooly bugger last night. Definitely need to improve my palmering technique.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Not too bad for a newb! You hackle is a bit over sized (fibers a bit to long) as Andre has said for that hook, but nothing wrong with over sizing sometimes. I tie some bigger buggers for bass & prefer the hackle to be over sized a bit. However, I also use a hook with a wider gap. Your fly will certainly catch fish, but sometimes the combination of hook gap & over sized hackle will clog up the gap & make getting a good hook set difficult.

Your palmering is not bad, and the more you do the better you'll get at it.
