I like it- simple hopper pattern that doesnt require 10 materials

I hear ya, nice change of pace from the arts/crafts of foam and rubber legs as well. Thanks for checking it out.

Good looking fly. I tied some of these this fall but they sank even with floatant. Any advice?

 

 

^use a lighter-wire hook, or look for a more hollow deer hair, or spin and pack the deer hair a little tighter.

I'd agree with sniper. Because it doesn't have a lot of high floating material in the back portion of the pattern it will sit lower, probably more like a natural would. Another idea is to use a wrapped foam body (although it goes against my earlier post) instead of dubbing. Much like the K's better caddis:
