Found this on the interweb; basic, few moving parts, easy to whip out in mass quantities. Although labeled a caddis, it's pretty much a hackled, legless Madame X; lots of potential for modifications here.

 

hook -Dai Riki 300 #10

thread - UTC 140 burnt orange

tail - deer hair bleached

abdomen - tying thread

head/wing - deer hair bleached

hackle - grizzly

 

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap to bend

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a small clump of deer hair; tie in wrap butts back to 2/3 mark

clean, stack, measure (hook length +tail) a larger clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in at eye with tips facing forward, cover butts with thread

pull deer hair back/tie down

SB your low tech photos are freaking awesome. I don't know how your finding these patterns but so far I've enjoyed all of your SBS's.im gonna have to put the saltwater stuff away.

Very cool pattern. Looks super easy (but all your SBS's do).

I think your color selection begs the name "Carrot cake variation".

core - 20lb mono

tail - deer hair bleached

abdomen - 1mm foam orange

head/wing - deer hair bleached

hackle - grizzly
