U.P. Trip Report (photo heavy)

Recommended Posts

Great trip, great narration, great photos!

I lived in Marquette for five years and loved it! Have fished and hunted much of the UP too. In short, God's Country. Not much is written about the UP. That's the way the Yoopers like it. You don't need to go to Alaska to find trophy fish, deer and bear; they're in the UP too!

Here's a short list of the fish in the UP:
Coho

Steelhead

Rainbows

Browns

Splake

Smallies

Walleye

Pike

Smelt (lots of them)

Lake-run brook trout (Coasters)

Whitefish

Musky

Sturgeon

The UP has them all in trophy sizes.

Thanks DrLogik -- even though the trip was cut short I had a great time. Believe it or not, that was only my 3rd trip to the U.P. despite having lived in Michigan for 20 years! (I have to do better going forwardt...:) )

I would really like to go after the Coasters sometime, either in the U.P. or on the Nipigon in Canada.
