troutscout 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 Very nicely built fly. I'm going to have to try a few of those. I've been chopping of my caddis heads bluntly on the eye-side of the tie down. I think your closed head looks a lot neater. Does anybody know if theres a reason for the angled hair head you see on traditional hair wing caddis'? moskito_01 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 Thanks guys! I closed the head on purpose. First, I think it looks a lot nicer and second, the cut off ends of YELLOW deer hair just stands out too much. It´s acceptable with a traditional hair wing caddis, because it uses different coloring (I personally close the head on ANY hair wing cadis), but not with this color. FloydianSlip 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 I've tried caddis patterns tied this way. They skate beautifully without sinking too often. When the hair is left trimmed, often skating it will pull it under the water. Nice Fly moskito
