"Half-drowned" Hopper Step-by-Step

Hey guys,

Wanted to share a pattern with everyone that I've been playing around with since spring.  The original intent was to create a floating hopper pattern that would ride lower in the water column ("Half-drowned"), but the end result after a summer of trial and error is really a cricket.  I've fished it in a variety of sizes and colors with and without an extended wing made of turkey feather, but, in the end, the simple black cricket imitation has proven to be the winner. 

I fish it primarily in moving water and have landed everything from 2" Long-eared Sunfish to 18" largemouth on it.  And even elicited a few rises from rainbow trout in the Smokys (though I failed to set the hook on any of these).

In any case, please let me know what you think.  The post original went up in early June, but I've revamped it since.

Looks great, Rick! 

Let me know how it works once you have a chance to try it.  I know one angler in South Texas has told me that he's been having recent success with the pattern.
