Noahguide 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2019 I hope this is the correct place to post this. A club member brought in a rod given to him 30+ years ago in Worcester MA. It's a 7.5' three piece made from hard wood, not cane. It has a carrying tube and a hand made denim or RR cloth case. No machine or manufacturer marks. Any ideas as to origin? Noahguide 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2019 just a guess, greenheart from pre-WW2 Try asking on http://classicflyrodforum.com TJM, thanks. Based on your thought of Greenwood, I have been able to find several close matches. Looks like several Chubb rods and tubes and with matching grips and ferrules. 1890s? tjm 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2019 I'm far from expert, Noah, but the hardware made me think 1890-1930ish, but I don't collect and just have casual interest in such things. Ferrules, guides and reel seats are often identifiable and if patented may lead to close dates and specific builders. In your case that carry "tube" might be a unique identifier as to builder. mikechell 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2019 That carry tube might be worth more than the rod! Unique to anything I've seen before. I like the grip.
j8000 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2019 I've seen a case just like that for an old bamboo rod at an antique store. Been debating picking it up, but the lady is asking $35 for it. Good luck! Jeff
