  1. Looks like we're full. Everyone post when you figure out what you're tying or when you need my address. -Mike
  2. Looking for one more swapper to round out the streamer swap discussed in another post. Everyone will be tying two patterns. One has to be articulated and the other can be any streamer of your choosing. You'll be tying six of each, so twelve total. Toe tags, return envelope with postage, etc. just like always. Due February 28th. SWAP IS FULL Swapmeister: Crackleback-Half Chub/tba 1)eastern fly-tba/tba Received 2)trez-Purple Featherwing/tba Recieved 3)joseph russell-Boogie Man/Telephone Box Received 4)Dorado-tba/tba Received 5)vicrider-Hog Snare/Cypert Minnow Received 6)gunpowderleader-Squishy/bunny leach Received
  3. We'll do one regular and one articulated, due the end of February. If that sounds good to everyone I'll post the thread so we can find our last swapper. -Mike
  4. I'll host. What do you think about keeping it small, like 6 swappers, and everyone ties two color combinations? -Mike
  5. Turkey biot midges went in the mail yesterday afternoon. -Mike
  6. Hot head pheasant tails are on their way. -Mike
  7. I think me and breambuster are the only two to be in it from the very beginning back in 2011. It'd be silly to quit now, so I'll finish off the last three months. -Mike
  8. My Henryville Specials for this month along with a replacement set for last month are on their way. I cranked out some red ass soft hackles to replace my first set. If that first package does show up they were streamers so they'll work for next month. Don't let your mailman steal this set. Mike
  9. That's not good. I mailed them nearly a month ago.
  10. Have mine not made it yet? I mailed them on the 22nd. Usually they only take two or three days. -Mike
  11. Everyone needs a monster Altoids tin like I sent mine in. I've never seen a swap set that won't fit in that beast. I got mine in the mail today. Considering I only joined the swap about ten days ago it's pretty cool to already have them back. Great set, can't wait to chase some browns with them. -Mike
  12. The extras were right out of my fly box. The black one is my Crafty Rabbit fly and the brown/yellow is more or less a Galloup Pearl Necklace. Crafty Rabbit Back Hook: I like Daiichi 2461s anymore but I might have used a 1750 or a TMC 9395 Tail: Marabou Wing: Magnum Zonker Body: Estaz or ice dub Hackles: Schlappen and UV polar chenille wound together, yours was black schlappen and chartreuse polar chenille Rubber legs Front Hook: Gamakatsu B10s a size bigger than rear hook Back half of front hook same as rear half Weight: Medium lead eyes Head: Craft fur in a dubbing brush I don't have a name for my swap fly but I need to think of one because it's a keeper. I've done real well in the short time I've been messing with the pattern. I did a salt and pepper color combo for the swap. Back Hook: Daiichi 2461 1/0 Tail: Schlappen, grizzly Body: UV pearl ice wing fiber is a loop Hackle: Same as tail Wing: Reverse tied bucktail, white Overwing: shimmer fringe Front Hook: Gamakatsu B10s 1/0 Front body, wing etc. same as back Head: laser dub Eyes: CCG 12.7 mm eyes used monster color on some, solar flare on the rest Clear Cure Goo over the "nose" and eyes
  13. Yeah I'm in. All I have left are the heads and they'll be in the mail. Should I mail them to the N. 3rd street address you posted earlier? -Mike
  14. I'm really confused how I didn't join this one from the start. I'll tie eight and you can keep the extras if there are any. -Mike
  15. If you guys are short I can totally get a set in the mail by Tuesday at the latest. Just let me know. -Mike
  16. May and June's flies are on their way. For May I tied #14 Quill Gordons. My June flies are easily the smallest swap flies I've ever sent out. It's a little hot head brassie that does real well on our Ozark tailwaters. The fly is really simple, just copper and copper brown wire and a flor. fire orange thread head on a TMC 2487 #24. -Mike
  17. I mailed them today. Should make it to the other side of the state in a day or two. -Mike
  18. Tungsten gut Czechs are on their way. -Mike
  19. I've never seen it but I hear it's pretty good. Mike
  20. I just have the big one. I've used it on 4/0's all the way down to 6's. Anything smaller you should be fine with the Brassie or just by hand. -Mike
  21. I'm in. I'll tie my belly flop nymph. -Mike
  22. Yep, I use the Fugly. The thing's a beast compared to other packers. I was just using my fingers up to a couple of months ago. I don't know if the packer is helping me get them tighter but it's a whole lot less labor intensive now. One trick I've always done that helps get them nice and dense is this. In between bundles and after I've packed it, either by ugly hands or fugly packer, I'll lock it back with plastic. I cut a little square off a baggie with a slit so it slides past my thread and pull it back over the hair and jam a bunch of HARD wraps back into the plastic. It really seems compress the hair. It also keeps everything out of your way when you're stacking the next bundle. I hope this makes sense. As for your other question I've always felt the denser the better for floatation. -Mike
