  1. I would think balsa is going to float higher in the water where as Basswood is not going to float as high. This might be usefull if you are tying a slider or something that you want to sink just below the surface and pop back up again.
  2. It has, I don't know how but it has.

    Tying Jigs

One thing I do for friends is tie bucktail on treble hooks for crankbaits. All my friends when they get a new crankbait sends it to me to be "finished" All my friends think it catches more fish.

    Tying Jigs

I used to. I used live bait jigs or whatever they are called. All I know is mine never came out as nice as the storebought ones and since the storebought ones were are so cheap I decided I would just buy them. I got to say though pink head/white body caught my biggest bass of my life 10lbs on a 1/16 crappie jig.
  5. Its not a real one, it is one of those temporary ones. We got them when we moved into our appartment so we could park the 26ft truck up infront of the house.
  6. Very nice. Looks like you need more Yellow Thread though.
  7. This should work for Bluegill. 1 olive bugger hackle used for the tail and wings( or whatever they are called) olive thread size 12 dryfly hook. thats it.
  8. Techniquely no bony fish has true teeth. But they do have sharp psuedoteeth. Not enough to require a special leader or anything, just pay attention to your line after every fish.
  9. I will have to remember that one when I get a wife. The current prospect I think I would have to have a tranquilizer gun handy because if I did that I know a bat would not keep me from getting my butt kicked.
  10. I just do it. When the mood strikes me I tie.
  11. I would eat it... if I were a fish and was really hungry.

    Speaker Phones!

I admit to using it sometimes when I am driving on my cellphone. I drive a stick so the extra hand free really helps. I always ask the person if they don't mind me putting them on speakerphone first though.
  13. I haven't really played with any smallmouth flys yet. I am thinking of some topwater ideas.
  14. I am going to have to figure out how to make that.
  15. A spinning rod  Since I have a hard enough time casting in light wind.
  16. Took this shot from my bed, the white foam holds flys till they can either bed put into a box or destroyed. My desk is fairly clean right now compaired to how it normally is.
  17. I can see myself getting hurt on one of those.... where can I get one
  18. SHAD! I might have to break out the spinning rod and cast some minnows ( yeh yeh I know bait sucks) to some smallmouth soon also, the river is too high for the flyrod but I think i can fish some with the spinning rod now. Oh yeh and add an attempt at a state Record Chain Pickeral. I believe the state record is 7lbs 7oz. A lake by my parents house has been producing the past few years 6+ lb chainies, hooked into one last year that was bigger then these by far( first thought was muskie) I will do it on a flyrod thats for sure. Now the question is 5,7,10wt rod? hmmm 5wt might be a little light, 7 should be fine but 10 will get them away from the cover I find them in.
  19. Never caught something in Saltwater on a fly. Probably with a spinning rod would be Croaker
  20. Good idea about the magnet. I clip outside in all weather, something left over from when I used to tie at my parents house on the kitchen table. Didn't want to make Mom mad.
  21. I say Yes. My 10wt is a cheapy from Dicks Sporting goods, I only use it at the beach for 1 week out of the year so I don't need an expencive one. If you are used to casting a 5wt then you will be shocked at how you have to slow everything down. I got to admit mine is a bear to cast all day but that is probably because it is a cheapy graphite rod that weighs too much.
