You can use tungsten thread, that'll get you down on that style hook.(or any other for that matter) Kevin at Performance flies has it. For some reason can't get the link over.

I take inventory so to speak of my tying materials. I empty one bin at a time lay it out on the floor just as a refresher on what all is in each one. They're labeled but it still helps with colors, amounts and things of that nature.

Ok got it. Had to do this a way I've never done before but here it is. The two on the right I've been fishing for quite awhile and my self and some friends I've tied these for have done very well with them. The one on the left all of the material but the wire and the slf dubbing is a new material to me, I took it out for a swim this past Saturday, caught ten in about two hours. Eight of which were taken on this nymph. So I feel I can say it works, at least on spring creek. Hope all of you enjoy the success I have with these nymphs. (On the left) Hook: Daiichi 1120 #6 Body: flash nymph dubbing rusty orange Thorax: SLF spikey squirrel dark brown Rib: ultra wire brown Back: Siman magic shrimp foil Under body/weight: tungsten thread enough wraps to equal the weight between a 5/32-1/8 tungsten bead ( On the right) Hook: Daiichi 1130 #14 Body: Awesome possum dark olive Thorax: Black awesome possum Rib: Thin copper wire ( dark as you have) Back: Hends shellback # 34 olive Bead: Black nickel 7/64 Under body: Sticky back lead tape

Vic, that's exactly what I do.All the beads are tungsten. .the size 14's are wrapped with an underbody of lead tape along with the tungsten so they're heavy and will get you down where you want to be. The 20's are tungsten as well. On the woven nymphs I tried a more open weave so the under body color would give it a two tone effect.

You are quite welcome vic, the nymph with tan/yellowish u v chewee skin back works very well as a dropper off of the caddis dries when the caddis are on the water. I like to hop the dry around on the surface and the nymph acts as an anchor, that can get really exciting. The nymph takes it's share doing this as well. I hope you do well with the flies. Nice looking fly "T". I just got the rusty bq 22, to be honest it looks a little on the orange side to me but a little rusty. I was thinking of using it for rusty spinners. But I'm not sure if the color is right, I'll be tying some and giving them a test run though. This particular color doesn't seem as translucent as the one I saw them tying with on the dvd that came with the Hends book Fly fishing and fly tying. It's the only color I've seen in person so I'm no one to talk about the product. I want to get some more but want to see them first, which is going to be difficult seeing as how no one carries it around here. I'm hoping Kevin at performance flies will have it at the Sumerset show.
