  1. Nice fish, it's always nice to get into some new territory and catch fish. Looks like you had a great time
  2. Looks like a great spot to fish those undercut banks. It wouldnt hurt to strip a streamer along each bank. Looks like a nice spot for a waiting brown. Nice pics as well
  3. Hey that rod has my name on it !!!! Thanks a lot Steve I couldn't be more happy, I can't wait to get it in my hands and get on the river!
  4. That's a beauty of a fish, nice and fat. Well done

    Megalodon

Wow that's a pretty great days digging
  6. A book I really enjoyed was "what a trout sees" a fly-fishing guide to life underwater by Geoff Mueller. It's a good read and can be downloaded from amazon.
  7. If you put the effort into your customers aquariums as you do your own, which I'm sure you will, you will do very well. No doubt
  8. Very nice pictures, I'm deathly allergic to bee stings so ill just admire your pictures and the beauty of bees from afar. Thanks for sharing
  9. Quite possibly, do they make backpacks for a baby that have pockets for a fly box?
  10. That's really interesting, ill bet that would be a Great Lake to scuba dive in. I take it they are all males with colouring like that.
  11. Those are beautiful fish, and the tank as well, I really like the black sand. Are those fish a type of cichlid Steve?
  12. When we first got together she had fished most of her life but would not take the hook out or touch the fish, she would just squeal with excitement and then call me over to help her. I put a stop to that really quick and she's never looked back
  13. Hey thanks, Nate, I've used pink beads for some bead head nymphs and they have worked quite well. I've seen some pink rods and if the support breat cancer it makes it even better
  14. Some very good points indeed, she has out fished me with her pink pflueger spin rod on many occasions, shes an exceptional fisherman. I have no doubts that she will do well fly fishing.
  15. I will defiantly pay someone to teach her to cast, she also already has a pink spinning rod so it looks really good that a pink fly rod will be bought and probably pink fly line if available and a box full of pink flies that she will somehow catch fish on. Hahaha
  16. Really nice pictures, looks like a beautiful stream. Great hunting dog too!
  17. I didn't notice that fly at all, that's hilarious
  18. I'm actually very proud of her, I'm just waiting for her to want her own rod, which I'm sure will be very soon
  19. I took my wife out fishing brook trout today in a small mountain stream, she uses a spinning rod and I fly fish, after I caught about 4 fish she was starting to get a little pissed so I lent her my fly rod and this was the result. What have I done.
  20. My best guess would be first of all the name your paying for, the drag system it has and the weight of the reel. Many over 100 dollar reels are honed out of a single piece of aluminum and are light with a good disc drag system. For small fish any reel will do but having a good drag for big fish helps a lot.
  21. I was using flies very similar to these in blue and white, white and red and chartruse with blue and white. With the double hook. The head was more of a thread based head but very similar. I wish I could have taken a pic of the exact fly but I left them with my father in law because he lives there and I don't have much use for them around Calgary. I either stripped them with a 30 foot sink tip line or trolled them a a very slow speed with the same line. They were all over them, so much that the guys with spinning rods were using them with their down riggers instead of their baitfish. I tied in some extra flashabou on the trailing hook to give them a little more flash which looked really good in the clear water up there.
  22. I haven't caught a lake trout before but they were very eager to take a fly on a 30 foot sink tip line, I think I'll take a full sink next trip and see how it works
  23. Thats a real shame Steve, I had a 100 gallon salt water reef tank that was the victim of a power outage while I was away and lost everything, I pretty much quit after that. I'm glad you got your aquarium back going again, it's a wonderful hobby but definatly not cheap. Hope there is a bright side somewhere in this for you
  24. Just got back from a great trip in Northern Canada, after a 9 hour boat trip we set up camp and the fishing was unlike anything I've ever experienced. I caught 113 lake trout in four days, no greyling this year but there is always next year. Beautiful scenery, great company and fantastic weather. I had to be careful with how many pictures i took as some moron (me) forgot to charge the camera battery. And had to have a fish fry the last night
