  1. I am not aware of a national fishing license per say but what do I know. I am from Texas and you must have a state fishing license if fishing in Texas waters. Now if I fish the Red River which is the border between Oklahoma and Texas you must have an Oklahoma fishing license even if you are on the Texas side of the river. The Red River is considered Oklahoma fishing waters with the exception of a short span of water that is below the Texoma Dam where Texans can fish on the Texas side with a Texas fishing license. I think I am correct on that scenario.
  2. I just wanted to reach out to everyone on here to see who all has tied at shows and expos. The reason I am asking is I will be tying at the Mountain Home Fly Tying Expo this October, hopefully my tying skills are up to par. Anyway I am wanting some pointers from folks that have tied at events. Any helpful tips or insights sure would be greatly appreciated! I am looking forward to participating this year. Have a wonderful week!!!
  3. I purchased the Stonfo bobbins and they are okay but I had an issue with them. Maybe it was just the way I was holding them in my hand but as I tied I started to notice that the tension was getting loose. I would have to stop and re-tighten it. It continued to happen on both bobbins that I had so I knew it was not just a fluke on one bobbin. I decided to give Rite a try and I not longer have the issue of the tension getting loose. I imagine it was the way I was holding the bobbin. The Rite tension knob is recessed plus it has the small plastic knobs so the brass star screw cannot get loose easily. I prefer the Rite bobbins over the Stonfo's.
  4. Last set of flies are in! Give me a bit for get them separated, pictures taken, and I will get them out. Thank you to everyone for participating!!!! There are some darn good flies with this swap. Have a great week-end.
  5. TheCream, I like those carp bugs! How about the SBS or the pattern info on those please???
  6. That is so cool looking! Great job indeed!!!
  7. Really???? I thought they looked fair...First time I ever tried that type of pattern. They are for the Striper and Blue Fish Swap. In all honesty though I really like Liquid Fusion I saw a tier at the Texas Fly Fishing Expo in New Braunfels, Texas use it plus it is pretty easy to get. I always use a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby. I am cheap! LOL LOL
  8. jjs89yj, Got your flies....Just needing one more and then we should be all set. LIST UPDATED
  9. joseph, I have used Liquid Fusion quite a bit on bullet and streamer flies on the heads. I like the way it looks and I think it has a rubbery feel to it. I do not know what you would use to thin it to be able to apply it for your particular application. Maybe SilverCreek will chime in and offer his expertise since is well versed in Chemistry. I really like Liquid Fusion I used it all the time to attach eyes to my flies instead of CA glue. Yes it is not an instant glue but your fingers do not stick together like when you use CA. Plus if you get some Liquid Fusion on the eyes it does not make them all cloudy like CA will do. Here's some flies I covered with Liquid Fusion and yes it dries clear. I placed these on a rotary wheel while they were drying.
  10. planettrout, Now those are some awesome looking flies there!!!!!
  11. Yes it a simple design...Nothing fancy but it does the trick really well.
  12. mikechell, Clean out your message box...I want to send you a PM
  13. Ditto with SilverCreek and Kimo...I got a pair of those from J Stockard when they had a promotion special. Excellent hackle pliers I think...To bad I didn't think of that simple design!
  14. I'll keep hosting it every year I think! Everyone needs some floating flies for bass fishing...Plus there's some pretty darn awesome flies to be had!!!
  15. These are some foam articulated flies that I came up with for the Large Mouth / Small Mouth Bass Swap. I think I will name them Chinese Dragons
  16. We got a reprieve this week-end!!! Friday it was a 107 here in East Texas but it is only supposed to be in the lower 90's this week. It's been hot this summer but hey it August in Texas and I have seen it must worse, I am glad you got your father taken care of!!!
  17. flytire you have been a very busy man it seems! A man of all trades??? The reason why the meter postage does not work as you have shown is because there is a post mark date which indicated the mailing date. If it is mailed after that date technically it is void. If some of you are fortunate enough to have access to a postage meter you can program it to do the postage but leave off the date. When it hits to Post Office they will place their post mark stamp on it to show the mail date. Just thought I would share,
  18. vicrider...I agree its not bragging its called LIVING and you wouldn't trade for it I don't think. Thanks for the glipse into your experiences!
  19. Look pretty darn good to me! Good job!!!
