  3. OK ya got me will......the real reason i tied so many is,i was gonna sneek into everyones rooms at the lodge and hide their fly boxes then sell you guys flies at the river and i would have got away with it too....if it wasnt for you meedling kids and that dog! SD
  4. Thanks pacres Being from MI the state that has more timber in the rivers than most states have on land i feel underprepared without a ton of each patteren. Although will has asured me i wont lose even a 1/10 of the flies in PA that i do here in MI i still wanted to have enough for everyone just in case they turned on to something i tied SD

  15. Check out the dogwood & hobbs creek combos redneck they range from $69-129 and are good rods for the beginner i have a buddy that i got into fly fishing and i was surprised at the feel of these rods for the price. http://www.basspro-shops.com/servlet/catal...ps.com/servlet/ SD
  16. There has been some very good advice and helpful info given by members over the last week or two on helping to get close ups of flies focused. I had alot of probs with my pics coming out "fuzzy" when i tried to take a pic of a fly even after trying some of the advice that was given. Well to get to the point....i was just out at wallmart a few mins ago and walked by the dig cams when i saw a tripod on sale for $19. i figured i would give it a shot because i cant go wrong for that price. After just trying taking a pic with the tripod and using the timer setting on my camera i have now finally be able to get some decent close ups of flies. Looks like the whole problem was not my dig cam but more a problem with my big'ol monkey hands not being able to steady the cam when i zoomed. If anyone is still having a problem after all the good advice that was given by others then take a trip to wallmart and check out the tripods they have on sale,it has helped me alot! SD
  17. very nice pic's stel thanks for sharing them with us! SD
  18. I just spent 2 hours cleaning my own stuff last night joe its hard to keep things organized isnt it,seems like as soon as you start tying you get into a rythme and dont want to spend time putting stuff back Room looks good though! SD
  19. Anyone else's local orvis shop downsizing their fly tying materials? I have a local fly shop that i try to buy all my stuff from(flymart in RO) because its a mile from my house and i started going there when they first opened and have become friends with the owner so i like to support them when i need something. But when they are out of something that i need i get everything i can there and then go to the local orvis shop to get what FM was out of,well yesterday when i went to orvis to get something that i couldnt find i was shocked to see the tying section seems to be alot smaller than it use to be They had maybe 6' of wall space for the tying materials and that was it....i know they use to have more of a selection than that now the rest is all clothes and a wall of rods. Has anyone else's local orvis shop down sized their tying materials or is it just mine? like i said i do 99% of all my purchases at my local shop but i really hated to see orvis downsizing their materials. SD
  20. Welcome plh nice to have ya join us. SD
  21. Well i got one step closer to being organized today,i went and bought some more rubbermaid containers put all "like" things in zip bags and stored them together in the containers. The main reason i did this today was because i use to keep my hooks in the packs that they came in and just toss them in the bottom of my tying kit, well after going and spending about $40 on hooks today i realized that i had probaly 50% of the hooks i bought in my kit! so i went to the hardware and bought 2 large divided plastic containers to keep my hooks in....and i even wrote the hook size&I.D number on each compartment lid....scary,thats as organized as i have ever been Its a step in the right direction though! SD
  22. A blonde go's to the post office to mail some christmas cards and asks the man behind the counter for some stamps, the man asks her.... "what denomination stamps would you like?" the blonde looks at him confused and says " well...give me 5 catholic 12 luthern and 11 baptists" yupp the bad jokes are back, you guys had enough of a break! SD
  23. Sounds like everyone had a very nice christmas and got some good gifts A couple other things i recieved were some fishing/tying books from my family, one book impartectuliar is a very interesting book for any of you fellow michigan guys if you havent seen it. Its called "cold running river" and it is a book on the history of the pere marquette river, its a very informative and interesting read if you have ever fished the PM (as any MI steelie fisherman has ) then this is a book you will enjoy! my mom picked it up at a book store in oscoda but i'm sure its available anywhere. Glad to hear everyone had a great holiday with their familys as i did myself And kevin you can ship that tying desk to me this week....you have my address right? SD
  24. Same here Lunk check my post from about 2 weeks ago,i had been "thinking" about building a rod for a good year now and posted a couple questions on the process......then OSD posted a link to a site that makes these unbelievable looking reel seats just like you mentioned and i knew as soon as i saw the seats that i HAD to build one. Do i need another rod...NO...i have a good number of nice top name rods, but to be able to build your own rod with the "special" components that you like is something i have always wanted to do. So after i get back from my next trip i will be ordering the stuff to build one of my own. Let us know how your rod comes out. SD
