OK now to show my "bench". This is my Fly tying, Music, Ham radio area. I keep fly tying supplies in the drawers and tie at the "tower" I made on the right side. I like to tie standing up so thats what I came up with for now. I can stand and tie at the window and still see my boys outside having fun. Good times!

I am just wondering what your favorite Fly Rods are including something outside of the normal. My favorite odd fly rod is my Loop AEG 590. Its a cool 3pc 9ft 5wt that Loop designed with the help of the Angler exploration Group. My favorite mainstream rod (and favorite rod) is my Sage Trout LL 490. What do you guys like?

I like it. I have had a hard time not crowding the heads on caddis flys. Yours looks good to me!

Some truth to that! No Doubt our county has better Ham radio coverage than cell phone. At my house cell phones only work over the internet. If the internet is down or the power is out... No phones at all.

I can totally understand that happening. We do have a local club here in the small town I live outside of. We have a repeater on the mountain that is tied to 9 other repeaters so with a hand held HT I can talk around 200 miles. Then the repeater has echolink and that ties to repeaters around the world. No HF for me but still fun. I just looked up Repeaters in Somervilles MA and it looks like you would have a lot of options. If you have echo link on your repeaters or instal a node at your house on wifi you could be talking all over. Let me know if you get your license again. We could talk over the echo link. There are even Echolink apps for phones that make your phone operate like a radio but over the internet.

I have noticed a lot of musicians on this site just wondering how many Ham Radio Operators are here?

I know this is far from perfect but for me it good. I really struggle with crowding the heads on these. I cut a small foam strip and made the body out of it. Trying to get it to float better. At any rate progress not perfection. Still fun!

I never thought about coating the eyes to protect the paint. Sounds like your flys should hold up well!

Oh man thats cool! Those shows are awesome. So much crazy undiscovered talent out there.

I found a fly shop out of Spokane that works with me. I just email them the name of a fly and they put together everything I need for it. They even said I could just send them links to youtube videos of the fly I want to tie and that they would watch the video and put together all of the parts needed. Then they ship it out to me. It really helped take the mystery out of all of the size issues. What size eyes, thread, hooks, Hackle, and lead wrap go together. All of that stuff. Then I record the brand, sizes, and stuff for reordering individual parts. It has really been helpful.

You can see by the picture in the video that we have an amazing area for fly fishing. Lots of lakes, streams, rivers and creeks. I guess as a new guy I should ask Did I do anything inappropriate by posting that video link on this forum? If so I am sorry and will remove it. Didn't mean to take any of this in the wrong direction. FYI this is the first forum I have ever been on so I am not sure how it all works.
