My first Gummy Minnows!

LOL!

They definitely don't "swim", but it's a fair trade for the imitative image. I haven't fished with one yet, but I'm thinking a slow drop with the occasional twitch would work well. It's molded curves will reflect light enough to seem like it's moving, and a hungry fish is gonna react to the twitch. I could also see drifting it through the lower end of a rapids into the head of a pool like a crippled minnow.

As far as the weight goes, I read and re-read the recipie, and embarrasingly enough, I just don't get it. Besides, without the bulk of the wrap I can use less material and tie more of them. If I fish it in water over 3 feet deep I'll add a split shot to the line.

The Hybrids will hit a streamer 1 foot down anyway!

Thinks soft plastics when you fish them, Fin-S or Slug-go's, though I like them tied on a wide gape worm hook for that with the hook riding up. Again, if you're going to retreive them like a streamer they really need to be tied on a short shanked hook, like a drop shot hook or an Octopus hook, or if you're going to tie them on the Mustad Popper hook. Don't do an extended body. Tie yourself in some tail material that will add some action and just fold the stuff over the hook shank and trim to shape. I wish I had access to a digital camera to show you what I'm talking about.
