Michael Smith 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2006 In my random box of stuff I got to start tying flies with there are two bags of cock pins. What does one use them for? I've got one bag of brown and one of black. Thanks! Mike

atroutbum2 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2006 This is just a wild guess, but could the cock pins be rooster feathers (cock= male chicken, pins=pin feathers) If they are what i guessed, they could be the kits dry fly hackle :dunno:
Michael Smith 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2006 They are little tiny feathers. So far I've found they work pretty good to hackle a number 14 ant. I'm not sure if that's what the intended use is, but it works. The feathers are about 2-3" long and the hackle fibers are about a number 12-16. Thanks!
