Crappie day of fishing

She was a lot of fun to catch. I caught 6 yesterday and one was 14 1/2 inches long. The one in the picture is 12 1/2. My phone died before I caught the bigger one. But that's okay, I know where they live now so I'll be back.

Jeff, I caught these in a pond in my neighborhood in Mechanicsville VA just off of Meadowbridge Rd.

I guess tomarrow I will have to give Midlothian a try and see if they have started biting since last week. Otherwise I will call my buddy who lives out there and see about fishing this pond that is near his new place.

Nice crappie Bill :headbang:

I use to get into some big ones on the Au Sable that were in that range 12-14" and they were a blast to catch (and eat :) ) but it's been some years since I have targeted them, might have to hit them again this summer. Nice pic.

Way to go Bill. I hit one on April 6th on a white deceiver with a blue back. Water was still cold but they are staging. I think they will flock in again for the new moon spawn at the end of the month.

mmmmmmmm...crappie and mayo sandwich....

No doubt!

I brought about 60 back (left another couple dozen with my folks to chow on) from Florida at Xmas. What a treat. Ours are about to stage. Tough call between gills and crappies. (they both better watch out...LOL)

Nice fish, Bill
