MTtyer 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Has anyone ever figured out a way to "bleach out" foam. Small early season hoppers around here tend to be grey, pale yellow, or very light green. Grey foam works fine but yellow foam is always too d%&$ bright. Green is also toooo bright green. I've tried laying a piece of 2mm foam on the dashboard for about a month during the summer....didn't work. (It did, however, lighten up rubber leg material)
flytire 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Buy white foam and color them to your specifications with Berol, Pantone or Prismacolor permanent markers!
deeky 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 Visit a larger hobby store. I bought a pack that had a very good range of muted, natural colors for a few bucks that included anything from kind of a ginger color to light tan through brown, also picked up some other colors in individual sheets. TBlue 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 I don't know about bleaching out foam, :dunno: , Only thing I can think of is to go to a craft or fabric store to include Wal-Mart to get a variety of colored foam. I have the best luck at a craft store called Michael's here in Boise. Hope this helps
steelie 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 Good Day, Tricky question. All comes down to chemical make-up. I have had some foam that did sun bleach. Or you could also experiment with nasty chemicals like acetone or goof off. However, I also concur with the markers concept. Probaly the easiest and healthies as well as allow you to really customize the color. Steelie
