Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2008 Switched gears to some dries now. Working on some Yellow belly mattress thrashers, These are a GREAT pattern on streams that have good stone hatches. They are big enough to see easy and float well in broken water, large enough to get the attention of a good fish, and since stones hatch throughout the day you can get some surface action when theres not even a hatch of anything coming off. I use these on the Au Sable and do well with them.

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2008 Hook- 2xl size 8 body- black ice dub rear 3/4 ...yellow front 1/4 black hackle feather palmered over body wing- elk hair One thing I like to do is once I have the body dubbed I like to take my fingers and kind'a squish the body somewhat flat before I palmer the hackle and put the wing on. Just gives a wider profile and more stable base to float on IMO.
