Alright Tyrite, a great place to start! You have the chops and just need some refining ;)

Here are the immeadiate points I would look at as far as correction.

- I may be incorrect, but I think that hook is a bit long. Is it a Daiichi 1530 or Mstad 3906 or 3399?

- Throat could stand to be a little thicker and longer

- Wing could be a bit thicker

- Appears to be an errant thread wrap behind the tie in point (back side of the head)

Hi Tyrite, do you use a thin layer of dental tape under your body? It makes laying out flat tinsel easier.

Cheers Futzer.

Tyrite,

I have tied this pattern as well - a variation on the Silver Doctor - and really like it. Good move on shortening up the hook.

The wing may be just a little long, but more importantly this style of wing usually lifts at the end, rather than dropping as yours does. Also, according to the pattern, the mallard sides on the wings are at most half the length of the wing, but that may be a personal thing (arent' they all really?) that is up to personal taste.

Also, if you can shorten up the head by about a third of what it currently is, that would help the balance.

That head is one that gets me. I used to be really long in the head, but now tend to crowd if anything. It's a tough one.

Hope that helps. This is a great pattern.

I like your flies ,one question what camera are you using to take your photos is it an auto focus as both your photos are out of focus and this could be due to the camera,Sorry dont mean to criticise you
