You've never experienced "Snow Bird Season" in SW Florida. Trust me, you might want to reconsider this...

I think islander means the water is very clear, very shallow & very calm, so if you stand in it you'll catch nothing cos' the fish got spooked?

Snook cruise the trough just a few feet from the sand. If you are standing in the water you are standing where you should be fishing. Now one trick is to wade out a good distance and fish back towards the sand, but that is dependent on the spot as to viability. Also Adam is correct, get too close and you will spook them. They can get really spooky. A friend of mine was fishing out of a boat and would spook any fish he was casting at. He finally figured out that he had to cast the fly onto the beach and pull it back into the water in order to not spook the fish.
