Mix up the glue with different colors & pour out dots, etc., etc. However, I've not a clue as to what to buy for the powders (or any other colorization scheme). Anyone out there done this? whatfly 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 Revell model paint works fine for coloring epoxy. Not really sure if it is worth the effort considering how cheaply you can find these commercially made in bulk, especially if you can settle on a size and particular set of colors, but YMMV. tidewaterfly 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 In the past, I've used Rit dye mixed with a little alcohol to color epoxy, which gives a transparent color, or acrylic paint mixed in for opaque colors. I would guess a pigment powder would work too, as long as it doesn't react with the epoxy. I've only mixed fine glitters with epoxy otherwise & they don't change the color, but I've never used a lot of it since I was using it as a coating. You can find pigment powders & glitters on Ebay, nail salons use them for fancy finishes on finger nails. They're likely available at other sources too. Capt Bob LeMay 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2017 Instead of that direction - you might want to consider simply painting eyes in place on your finished, sealed thread head - then coat the head with FlexCoat once everything is dry... That's what I've been doing for years... Here's a few pics that show the steps.... All of the pics show the steps -before the final coat of FlexCoat... Ed Gallop 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2017 Jacquard dyes are excellent. I doubt their Pearl Ex (powder) would give what you want but their other powders are great. I can get the Rit locally, but have to order the Jacquard, so I save it for dyeing fur or feathers. Norm, thanks for posting that pigment product, I wasn't even aware of it. I'll check it out.
