Bimini15 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2017 Is there anything in these flies that is tied in the traditional sense, other than the initial base of braid? Is everything else, hair, hackle, flash, all glued with UV?
Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2017 Is there anything in these flies that is tied in the traditional sense, other than the initial base of braid? Is everything else, hair, hackle, flash, all glued with UV? Generally, the base braid is only element tied in with thread. On some, I tied in a tail of mac yarn, to offset the weight of the hook bend, also providing some anti- fouling effect, before wrapping the braid. petegray 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2017 Mr Bimini... Your assumptions are, in part, somewhat phlawed... phibers and phlash are secured in a "traditional" manner with thread... 3D eyez are encapsulated with light cured resin... phlat Wangs are welded in place... completed head is treated to an anti-tack clear top coat... on the other hand, if you google "peeete's welded wide body", you will see most [if not all] of the pheatherz and phlash welded to the Bill's Body Braid phoundation... Since a photo is said to be worth a thousand words, with that in mind, I'll crank out a SBS... stand by to stand by for news... photos at eleven... I should have used a larger hook but this was already in the jawz... beware inphringing into the "no tye zone" gap... Bueller...? Bueller...? ANYONE...! petegray 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2017 Thanks a bunch Peter for the SBSs ! They're great. How do you think those flies would work on the Stripers on the Cape ? Just Phine... and on some DAZE, GangBusters...! the Broad Spectrum Stimulator's roots' are in "Cape Kodistan"... South Beach and Monomoy and Paine's Creek and Barnstable Harbor... etc... here are some SandLance patterns that workedforme... the not so ubiquitous Welded Wide Body SandLance... and this basic synthetic hard head SandLance... that morphed into this [by welding on phlank and phlat wang pheatherz]... a "metamorphosis phly"... and a don'tleavehomewithoutit Herring Insinuendo... the phuzzie notion predecessor for my Broad Spectrum Stimulator...
