Landon P 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2020 Today was to say an interesting day. Went out to one of my favorite lakes for bluegill. Tied up two hares ears right before I left and that was all that was needed. Caught 2 perch, 1 largemouth baby bass, couple pumkinseeds and a handful of bluegill! Now here is were my bad story gets better. While traveling from spot 1 on the lake to spot 2 I hear this terrible sequence of noises, I look over to see geese crossing the road. The never ending train of geese that were coming out of the water were ridicules especially in rush hour traffic! To second the geese bellows the crowd of cars honked! Then the geese stopped and then people were getting out of there cars and then I went on my way, the fish were biting! I suck at story telling so that is my story, have a good day
mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2020 The story is fine. The fish are very pretty!
Bill_729 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2020 Landon, your pictures reminded me of my 2nd fish (both sides shown). Look at 2" on your own ruler to get a better sense (for perspective, the backdrop in the second pic is a post-it note). It's made out of Basswood! : ) Yep, really. Aside: I'm not really much of a carver but I always wanted to carve a fish, so I did (this is my second one). IIRC, there was blood bleeding out of his gill at one point, and it took me a bit of searching to figure out where it was coming from. Maybe there will be a third fish some day... A fish "mobile" (with "hanging" fish) might be cool. Landon's fish are bigger than this one, but I see some resemblance! Bill (Bill_729)
Landon P 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2020 Cool carvings! Thanks Mike but my story skills could use some work 😂
mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2020 If you're going to tell a "story" ... don't let facts get in the way. Embellishments are part of the story. (Abe Lincoln told me that, during one of my time travel trips. He said, "That whole 'four score ... blah, blah, blah' was ALL made up!) If you're going to relate actual events truthfully, then don't make anything up. Honesty is always the best policy. Your tale is truthful. Even then, I got a chuckle from ... 14 hours ago, Landon P said: ... then I went on my way, the fish were biting! THAT'S an attitude everyone on this site can agree with!
