I would take a plain clump and see how it ties, before you put any money and effort into dyeing it.  Maybe it will take a permanent marker.

Cphubert is correct you need a dispersion dye.

Veniard Dye is for protein type materials eg fur feathers cotton.
Polyester is not a protein material and will not work with this dye. Most man made materials are not protein type material.
