  1. That's because we're all snow-bound and have to tie flies or go stir crazy.
  2. Mine are ready to fly, just need an address.
  3. Well, mine got here today-just in time for steelhead fishing. These are going to drive those monsters wild. Thanks for hosting Evan.
  4. Tony, the best trick I have found for rough hands. Before you sit down to tie, put a bit of vegetable oil (I use about a 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil) in the palm of your hand and add enough salt to make a thick paste. Now scrub your hands thoroughly for a minute. Get it all around your finger tips, nail beds, etc. Now wash with soap and warm water. Your good to go with baby bum smooth hands
  5. It is deadly on big browns and bull trout. Don't know how it would work in salt water, but any fish feeding on bait fish should be susceptible. I also tie it in black and olive.
  6. the white ne would be mine-Sex Dungeon. It had a tag when it left.
  7. well, I'm about half way through and having a blast tying all the different patterns. This past year i have tied a lot of stacked and clipped deer hair flies and thought I would pass along a tip for you all when tying the Dahlberg Diver. I have tried shaping deer hair heads with sharp tying scissors and single edge razor blades with fairly good success, but this year I went out to the drugstore (pharmacist for you Brits) and bought Wilkinson Sword razor blades for the old fashioned safety razor. They are super, super sharp and very flexible (you can put pressure on the ends and the blade curves). Use a pair of side cutters and clip the blade in half, lengthwise. This will make it more versatile. You will find this by far the easiest method for shaping those stacked deer hair flies regardless of size, shape etc. Be careful and patient at first as the blade can easily take off more than you anticipate the first couple times you try it.
  8. Count me in-Need a project or two over the Christmas break. Partridge and Orange.
  9. Piker originally posted as Rose Petal (original Gobin). Google rose petal gobin and you get lots of hits.
  10. I have a dozen Shark's Caddis tied up and ready to mail-address please.
  11. Piker, which of your flies would be weighted. The recipes I have found for each appear to be unweighted.
  12. My two flies are Mikaluk Sedge and bead head prince nymph. I have summer trout on my mind.
  13. sounds like fun, count me in. Do you want the names of my 2 flies now?
  14. Sorry Kudu, 15 is a big swap in my opinion, but 17-18 is too big, especially when it is expanded after we have all signed up. Count me out.
  15. I'm still in-ring neck pheasant for me. Probably some kind of nymph.
  16. After driving around with them in my truck fro the past month, mine are in the mail.
  17. OK, I am tying these up. I'm 1/2 done so they should be complete this weekend. and I don't know how to upload videos and images here (seems to have changed), but the links work. I had to break the video into 2 parts as it was too long in one video
  18. count me in for this one. Probably a Sex Dungeon. Mostly 'cause I like the name!
  19. With the dearth of swaps going on right now, why is there a need for a thread to gauge interest. Couldn't you just post a swap and gauge the interest from the number of swappers that apply. In my experience you could start a swap of any nature and it would be full in under a week. Kudu, this isn't aimed solely at you, but I have seen the "would you be interested in..." threads here in the past, seen people indicate they were interested, then when the swap was actually offered, some of those interested parties missed the sign-up and were excluded. Just saying. OH yeah, I'd join a harvest swap if it were offered.
  20. Excellent. I was wondering if it would pass customs.
  21. One left to report in and we are done! Great swap everyone, you all made this an easy swap to run. Thanks and let's do it again a bit further down the road. Maybe we could take the materials from a popular or well known fly (think gold ribbed hares ear for example) and tie any fly you wish with those materials except a gold ribbed hares ear. Lots of ways to approach the idea. I will let you all know when (if) this idea matures.
  22. SCO-I plan on seeing how the big brown trout in the Bow River like it.
