  1. Hmmmmm.... I always thought that was dental floss...... I always said I was going to have one put about 6 inches below my belly button.... the Burger King logo......

  3. QUOTE (OLB @ Jun 10 2005, 10:23 PM) They all reflect a phase of my life and will someday help me remember it when I'm scenile. Whudda ya mean "WHEN" you're senile???? I dated a girl a couple of years ago with one about 6 inches below her naval. It was a stick man pushing a lawn mower... for real...
  4. I've not been hooked by a cast (knock on wood) but some close calls and hooks in fingers... But the Doberman story reminded me of the time I was working on a bird's nest I had gotten in my bait casting bass rig a few years back. We... well... my now ex-wife... had a Siamese cat. Anyway, I worked and got about 30-40 feet of 12 lb test Stren untangled and cut it off the rig, piling it up on the floor in front of me. I rigged the remaining line up and tied a keeper on the end then reached down to clean up my pile... But it had disappeared!!!! You guessed it... I looked over at that stupid cat with about a half inch of line hanging out his mouth and a sour look on his face. A few days, a scolding from my wife, and a $400 vet bill later, the cat was fine... But, of course, my fishing maintenance was banned from the living room and banished to the shop........ Stupid cat.....
  5. At the Hop - Danny and the Juniors
  6. I couldn't agree more, Fatman. Al's sight has and still does help my tying greatly. Fly tying classes are great, but they are not on every street corner where Swampy lives. However, there should be some classes available in Memphis or Heber Springs. I'll let you know if we set something up here in Jones-boogie too...

Next thing you know, Red will be singing "Feelings...... Nothing more than.... FEEEEElings...... Trying to forget myyyyy..... feelings for youuuuuuuuu...."
  8. OK.... the engineer in me is kicking in on this one... Tie 3 or 4 of each type - sparse, "medium", and tight - and put them in a container of water. See which ones go under and which ones stay afloat. My honest opinion... It will be somewhere in between. The mediums will float longest... but.... what do I know?
  9. QUOTE (B.C.TroutHunter @ Jun 7 2005, 08:52 AM) I saw the thread's title but read it as "'How do you carry your large fries" for some reason. Dang I'm tired. BCTH, I carry mine in the container the girl at the window hands them to me in..... I'm never organized enough to carry mine in anything fancy. I usually just buy those plastic bait boxes by Plano with several compartments... That or put them on a patch of sheep's wool... or hat band....
  10. QUOTE (Redleg @ Jun 10 2005, 07:20 AM) Arkie, thought you had a Royal Coachman on your butt cheek? No, Red.... that's a mole... and it looks more like a scud..... Gets pretty painful when my waders rip and the trout see it....
  11. I agree with Sawcat. Buying a kit will get you started. Doesn't matter about WHAT you tie to begin with as long as you are learning. You don't go out and face Nolan Ryan your very first time at bat... You develop skills, practice, learn.... That's what the kit is for. Besides, (FTF guys forgive me) you may not LIKE to tie.... ( I actually SAID that I know.... BLASPHEMY!!!) But it's true.... I bought a cheap kit, learned the basics, developed skills, and graduated to tools, materials, and "gadgets" as I went along. Wapsi has a great starter kit, but you can even go cheaper (as I did) and do OK to start. Best advice is to find a good tyer to help you get started. Come up to Jonesboro for our next NEAFF meeting and I'll introduce you to a couple of guys that can really get you going good. If it's closer to Memphis, a lot of great guys in Mid-South Fly Fishers who can also get you going.... Check out the show they are having July 8-9th.....
  12. took some Gink and then
  13. No fly fishing tat.... But I do have one of my Fender Telecaster guitar on my left shoulder. I've considered a fly fishing related one for my right shoulder, but it took me years to come up with what I wanted on the first one... I may be 90 when I get the second one... Not to downgrade anyone or be of much influence, but in my opinion, a tat should have at least some originality to it and be as personal to the person as possible. They last a long time, so be careful what you decide on. I searched for years before settling on an artist and an idea of what I wanted. He sat down with me, we designed the tat, and he did a great job... Something I still treasure and have no regrets. Knowing how my passion for golf was a few years ago compared to now, I'm certainly glad I didn't get a golf related tat. But I've played guitar for close to 40 years and had my Tele for 10 before getting the tat... Vices, if you do get one, make it your own original idea... as you have stated you already have that original idea. Nobody else will have a tat quite like mine.... So it's very original.... Honestly, I frown when I see someone getting an "off the shelf" tat just because someone else has one like it...

  22. Even though I have some just posted, it's better to post them in the pattern database. I search that database a lot to find patterns I want to try or need info on. Great tool and cheaper than any fly tying book on the shelf.....
  23. Welcome Randy.... You'll enjoy the tips and advice.... even the bad advice from me....
