  7. Another good idea when you are using multi-compartment organizers is to put a small magnet in each compartment. Then in the event of an accidental spill, most of the hooks stay together. Because even if only one compartment is open, you can still spill it accidentally, and 50 or 100 size 20 hooks scattered around the floor is no fun at all. You can get little packages of magnets at any craft store. They are usually pretty cheap. Maybe a 1.50 for 8 or 10. Justin
  8. Thanks Claudia and Mark, Yes, I definately like this pattern. So far its pretty much the only one of Oliver Edwards' patterns that I have been able to do really well. Justin
  9. Because your not spinning deer hair on this fly. Its made with a "Deer hair dubbing brush." i made mine myself on a "Turbo Dubbing Twister" I made myself. The originals are called "Oliver Edwards Caddis Legs" and they are from Siman Ltd. They look like this and they can be ordered from here: http://shop.siman.cz/index.html?pod=/_sd_cale.htm Justin
  10. Welcome to the forum Brian. Its great to have some of the young crowd in the sport/ hobby. Justin
  11. Well, Oliver Edwards suggests that you fish them the Czech nymph style. Basically, you can fish it anyway you fish a nymph. As for the deer hair. Its no problem at all. There is 3 layers of adhesive lead tape underneath the case. It ain't gonna be floating, that's for sure. Basically you want it to bounce and tumble along the bottom, as if it were a real cased caddis that got swept away by the current. Justin
  12. Welcome!! Glad to have another member. Justin
  13. I personally have no idea, as I have never fished an actual soft-hackle. Perhaps, "Soft Hackle" could give us an idea. Justin

    Cleanup Begins

Good old winter. We've been pretty lucky up here in northern Alberta. Still haven't had any snow yet. Its 3 degrees Celcius out still. Oh, well. Snow is inevitable. More reason to go down to the fly tying desk I guess. Have fun with the shovel. Justin

  19. I found this great organizer at Wal-Mart (where you can find anything) and they work great for my bead organization. They each have a small opening, and I write on the side with a sharpie to denote the kind of bead, size, color, etc. What do you think? Justin
  20. Yes the like the fly alot as well. I've always liked the look of soft hackles, and have tied a few. But I have never actually fished with them. I'll have to change that this next summer. Justin
  21. Yes, I definately like that scud. I know the trout up here would love that. Justin
  22. Thanks INS Ya, I don't exactly speed right along. I prefer I nice looking fly when I'm done, AND half the reason I'm doing it is cause I enjoy it and its relaxing. Justin
  23. That's actually the first parachute that I have ever tied with the foam post. The posts Rainy's Foam Posts i think. Anyways, the package came with an assortment of different sizes. It seems to me, that the foam post might be a little easier to see than calf tail or turkey flats. And thankyou Mark
