  1. Glad to hear they have arrived safely! If anyone uses them this year I would love to hear how they made out.
  2. Naaahhh you can keep it. Thanks though.
  3. I see, but next time just keep them all. By the way I watched a show where they were using Boobies on a sinking line for rainbows, so if the opportunity arises....
  4. Hey Pelhament, the money was a little more than what I need so I will send you some change. I haven't checked out all of the flies you sent yet, been cooking supper for the crew when they get home. I'll have a look at them after dinner. Thanks for getting them in on time guys....Kerry
  5. I received mine today! Wow folks, what a great job you all did, tying for this swap. All of them are great! Thanks to our swapmeister for organizing this and making sure we all got our flies, well done sir!
  6. It is like Christmas around here this week. The mail keeps spitting out rod building stuff and flies. Today I received flies from Pelhament. They are truly great flies, I have a hard time believeing ANY of the flies I have received so far, are from the stuff I sent out. Again, well done Chris and the rest of you so far!!
  7. Hey I received streamers from billb today! I think Bill must be a rogue artist or something because that is what I got in the mail. The streamers are incredible Bill!! I see I was far too kind to all of you and must work on getting tougher next Fall when I hold another. I'll let the rest of you know when they get here....Kerry
  8. I got mine today.....flies that is! Hey I can't see why they won't all work on trout, they are great! But Chris oh most sage of seers, thou didn'st keep all of the extras that I sent thee! So anyway I sent something for you in the mail a few days back, it should get to you soon. Thanks for your usual competent handling of the swap, take care....Kerry
  9. Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. Mike the deer hair is actually trimmed even with the edge of the cup. It looks like it extends well past it because I tried painting the cone, didn't like it and went back to red. Castability will be similar to any larger popper I suspect, though really it was designed for bass more than toothy critters like pike and blues, so you shouldn't need to make long casts with it. Philly I would appreciate it if you could post your picture, as I said I am looking for feedback and ideas on incorporating the cups into a pattern instead of adding them on later. I'm going to check the floatability of the thing today as well. Thanks again for all of your input....Kerry
  10. Thanks! If I ever find more of these cups I'll turn out a better specimen.
  11. The one thing I should have mentioned is that it would be better to tie on a leader before you put the cup on. I didn't and I needed a pair of tweezers and a curved hemostat to do it. I think next time I would tie it on a longer shanked hook to give it a bigger deer hair body and increase the floatability of it. Possibly a foam body as an alternative.
  12. I know it's ugly, but if you follow the link to the tying instructions, you will see what I am after. Thanks for looking!
  13. A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by Inconnu: Trumpet Popper

I did my duty, but I am amazed and a little dismayed at the lack of ladies filling it out. I know it is a male dominated sport but surely there must be more than 1 here?
  15. I recently tied some of these for a swap. I like the look of them and will be using them here even though they were developed in Tennesee. I like what you have turned out here. Have you used it much?
  16. Thanks Flykid. Sorry all of them are not like that but once these rods are built I will update the rest with step by step pics.
  17. I sat down with a magnifying glass, tweezers and tried tying with 1/2 dozen different capes etc. etc. I was comparing them to capes from a farm up here in Alberta. So for wat it is worth, I believe that Whiting is the best bang for your buck out there. They all work well enough, just some are better than others but at a high end. Their 100 packs are a great deal for the average tyer as well.
  18. If you can spell the word then you can have any desk you like! I have a rolltop that is 120 years old. Not quite as large as that though, but the pile of stuff is pretty similiar.
  19. The Woolly Shrimp was originally tied as a take-off for a woolly bugger variation in a tying league. It was done with hot pinks, white and red. I felt that maintaining the same sillhouette but changing to a more natural colour, would take it from being a Coastal Cutt fly to a good all round pattern for rivers. The tying instructions are on "My Fly Patterns."
  20. Hy 'taz just got caught in a rift, in the time space continuum! Glad he made it back!!
  21. Sully I've seen the Booby used on B.C. interior trout lakes, so it could be used for other species.
  22. Thanks goodness you took the last spot Sully! I was starting to give in. Hey Breambuster, remember that to overcome temptation, one must fulfill it! :hyst:
  23. Hey!! THAT'S where my mesh storage bag went!!

Could it be related to bacterial growth inside our waders? I imagine that happens after some use, but has anyone else had something like this happen?
  25. Day5 cash is just fine, it was one of the options in the initial swap post, so it works for me.
