  1. A week later, it was time for me to go. A big step in my life and that step was moving off to college. I made it through though and the fishing around me was unbelieveable. But you wouldn't believe it. The first weekend though I found myself in oscoda again with Duncan and tony across the street. I fished 2 night before and never hooked into a king. The last and final night, we met up with them. I also met up with ausable_steelhead and his bro on the north pier. He had always told me about this pier but I had never gone over there but I am glad I did. I fished with A_S and his bro all night. He limited out with 2 nice kings and one smaller fish. This kid really knows his stuff and taught me a ton of trick for fishing off the piers. Finally, my rod doubled over, I yelled fish on and reeled in this king. A pic from oscoda! Then I went back to school and the fish were in my local river. I fished everyday for them. Here are just a few of the pics. First king
  2. Pig Roast John got me a nice deal on a digi camera that weekend. I thought I would stop by the pig roast and say Hi. I ended up staying the whole weekend. It was a great MS outing and I can't wait til next years. Here are a few pics from then. Beginning of august I had the pleasure of fishing with Hunting Horseman. We fished a little pond that he has access to with lunker smallies and slab panfish. Shane is truely a great fisherman and outfished me by catching 2-3 monster bass all over 17 inch and a nice cat. I caught a smaller bass and a really nice sunfish. Unfo. I lost all the pics except for this one. Then the salmon started coming in and I began to think, dream, and salmon fished. It's my favorite time of the year. My favorite salmon fishing is the beginning of the year when the salmon stage off of the peir. In my eyes, there is nothing like staying up all night on a nice warn summer night with some fine fisherman. Everyone complains about the salmon bring out the worse in people but in the 2 years I have been salmon fishing off the piers, I have only wanted to see one person fall off the pier or a big salmon yank them off, lol. Last year I fished 3 weeks of the piers of oscoda and never landed a king. This year, I wouldn't leave til I got one. The first trip out was the oscoda pier outting I threw togather. I went up a day early to fish. Between 6 guys we did pretty good and I lost a huge king at the pier:( The next day was the pier outing and zobzob, ruler and his father, and Nemsportsman showed up. Zobzob and I fished all night long and it was only him, a catfisherman and I. Nobody was hitting kings and I gave up around 12:30 and zob and I bs'ed. Around 3:30 I decided to throw on a 5 eyes cleo and the first cast, I landed this king. No body landed another king the rest of the mourning.
  3. My family vacation this summer took place on West Londa lake where we rented a cottage from our friends. It was a ton of fun and the sunsets were AWSOME. We might go back this year. Here our some pics from that My first pike of the weekend. I landed 4 others that week but they were all small, Couldn't get one over 20 inches. I hooked this bass and told my brother to reel it in. He hasn't landed a bass in a long time.
  4. In the beginning of May, I fianlly got my ZR2 which opened a lot of outdoor related oppurtunities. My cousin also got a lift on his Jeep and we went to the mounds(insert pic) Quest32a, now theres a fisherman. Back at the end of June, he asked me to go fishing with him. What a fun trip and I count that as one of my top 5 trips. John taught me alot about trout fishing and we sure caught alot. I even lost my first skam and that will be my goal for next year. Another event that sticks in my mine is the Huron river clean up. Only a dozen showed up the first day but we had fun none the less and clean up the river. I hope we do it again next year and have a better turn out.
  5. The next day I took my little buddy across the street out and he caught a...sucker. He was the happiest kid on earth at the time. Then it was time for spring break. I relized fishing is fun when you catch fish, but it's alot better when your with friends. The first part of the week, I fished by myself. I had my top 5 fishing day on easter sunday when I landed this beutiful female and went 2-20. The day after, I landed a 17 inch rainbow(no it wasn't a steelie) and forgot my camera. So I made the half hour walk back to my truck and grabbed the camera. 5 cast later, I caught this beutiful 20 inch brown... A couple hours later I landed this nice buck... I then went home and Don and I drove back up where we met Mike. We didn't catch any steelies that weekend but we did get a nice flash. We also caught some trout and had a few hook ups with steel but all were lost. Having friends up there was much better even though we got skunked. Don and I also found a smaller river that was awsome for trout.
  6. This year was nothing but spectacular for me but of coarse there is always a few things that are included in a spectacular year that are sad such as loosing a friend, a pet, a parent and that applied to me this year. I lost a friend to testicular cancer as I mentioned on this and a few other friends do to movin on with life. Then there are the many things that made this year go by so fast. Not only did the fishing, hunting, fun trips make the year great but the friendship made was what made my year the best ever. I would like to share a few those trips with you guys along(maybe more then a few;)). I also owe many many thank you to members of this site that made this year a banner year. The first few trips out were with Nothern_outdoorsman and a few other members. I got my first couple of fish ever through the ice. We tried lexington for the outing but everyone got the skunked except a few guys from out group. Don and I met at one of my secret lakes and I got my first pike through the ice which was only about 10-12 inches. I got 2 others that day. My parents took me to boyne mountain. I luv my snowboarding and had a few weekends of that. One of my fav. fishing trips was the first ludington outing. I had a blast fishing with Quest32a and deerhunting08. I did have a pic of john and a nice brown he caught but i lost it:( I also got to fish with luckiest guy on earth. Well, it's not all luck. He is a hell of a fisherman and taught me many things about steelie fishing a certain technique. He landed a few real nice steelies but they were with the pics that got lost:mad: this is the only pic I have of that weekend. April the 16th, 2003 I finally landed my first steelhead on my rod. It was truely one of the best things of my lifetime.
  7. Hey Airhead, We weren't at a county park. We were in between some houses on the lake. Think it was a mini park for the neighborhood. I should go looking for petosky stones. That would be cool to find some.
  8. NOW that's funny... Welcome to the board smalliekiller.

  14. QUOTE (Fatman @ Dec 14 2003, 12:56 PM) As a Vet I would like nothing better than to see the bastard fry, BUT, it would be better and more of a torture for him if we kept him locked up, just knowing he was a captive and in the hands of the wicked Americans would be worse than death for him. Can we at least torture him, please Or do this to him everyday til he dies and make the suffering last

  16. Well, that's it. I have just hung up the remaining reward poster in hopes of finding my fishing vest that contain's my grandpa's tackle box. My grandpa died about 2 years ago and a tackle box was what was given to me. This tackle box was something that I always had with me when I was fishing but now its gone. Make me know grandpa is always with me while I am fishing. Back on Dec. 4th I was a bonehead and relied on someone else to throw my vest into his car. When we got to our fishing destination, I relized he never did. I have done everything. Talked to security, lost and found and went on an egg hunt talking to people that thought they knew something about it. I printed out 15 Reward poster majorly taping them to the wall hoping someone will turn it in. If this doesn't work, I don't think I will ever see that tackle box again and won't be doing anything else. I could careless about the vest, the tackle or flies I have tied, I just want that box back.I know g-pa will always be with me but that tackle box brought him along even more. I want that vest back Do you guys think 10 bucks is a good reward????

  21. Wow, it seems like just yesterday a friend and I were in the campfire awaiting our first oppurtunity to go out and chase the kings once they neared the river mouths, and now the season is over:( If I remember correctly, all the guys out on the boats were worried about the poor salmon numbers and them never showing up. From what I observed, the fish were just hiding because every where I went there seemed to be tons of fish. Heck, the boardman wier almost collected a record amount of kings. I was just wondering how everyone's season went? Feel free to post pics...
