  1. I know this is a bit off track from your question but when your fishing in windy conditions be wary of the wind on your right shoulder (if right handed) as it blows the fly towards your head.
  2. They look great. I think they look better on a grub hook & I bet a grub hook is stronger.
  3. I use a 5 turn improved clinch knot & a 4 turn improved clinch with small flys.
  4. Hello I think partridge make two klinkhamer hooks, the original & the extreme klinkhamer with a greater angle of bend. I ordered some 12#s & they are huge (didn't realise they were 3x). I've just used grub hooks since & the fish don't seem to mind.
  5. Here's an old one for you. The red palmer.( I haven't tied this one) I believe this pattern was in use in the mid 17th century.
  6. hello, Just tie your nymphs as usual but use a red/orange/pink thread to put a tag or collar in. I use hot spots on my still water patterns but I like my river patterns natural or just with a copper bead.
  7. Anorexic pheasant tail nymph. thought i would try laying the pheasant tail fibres along the hook shank to keep it skinny.
  8. This is a 14#. It says in the book to tie them on 14s# and 16s#.it says its an imitation of the pale watery (baetis bioculatus).
  9. Lunns particular. looks like my pictures crashed, so ive posted them again. & ive spelt the name right this time.
  10. baetis nymph is it good enough for the realistic forum?
  11. hello. I don't know the dressing details, but i hope this helps. o'connor mayfly.
  12. hello steeldrifter, your aquarium project is amazing. keep up the good work. joops
  13. I don't know if you get these in the states, but thought it might make an interesting pattern. I had one land on my knee last year & was amazed by the colours. Ruby tailed wasp. about 12mm long.
  14. I use paint brush bristles, like flytire mentioned.
  15. I've seen rubber maggots you can slip on a hook, then tie on a hackle. this in my opinion is not a fly. I bet they are deadly to fish but its not for me.
