kerusso 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 I've been trying to dye some squirrel tails and have not been very successful. I have some grey tails that I'm trying to dye yellow. I used red onion skins, yellow onion skins, lemon jello (added some vinegar), and food coloring -- I've tried these four different methods but am not having alot of luck. Can someone recommend a better method? Thanks, Kerusso

nindja 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2006 My experience and I've heard it from others. You can't dye a dark coloured skin lighter. You have to bleach it first to lighten it then dye it. Bye the way koolaide in the microwave (4 minutes) with a bit of white vinegar is probably the cheap and good way to go. Does wonders. It's easy to mix (powder) and doesn't take much to take off of your hands. I nuke it 1 min at a time to check the colour absorption. then rinse in cold water and press in between newspapers. Let dry.
