Photoshop Alternatives

Is there anything that you guys use that doesnt cost as much as Photoshop CS2 or is that the best out there becuase $300 sure is up there on a students budget

When I got my compute it came with a free program called "Photo Impression IV". It works good for stuff like editing and resizing. And it has a few other bells and whistles, but it doesn't offer many of the sweet features of Photoshop.

 

But for free it is a pretty good program

GIMP

 

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

You can get student pricing on Photoshop. All you have to do is prove that you are a student. Basiclly send them a copy of your student id and drivers license. I don't remember the name on the company that does it. I will have to look it up. Either that or you can find it at your school. When I went to CMU, they had it in the Computer Learning Centers across campus.

I think the second one is the company that I ordered through when I was in school. These are full versions, they get a discount from the program companies to sell them to students. A really good program for students on a budget.

i have photoshop 7, that i got from a friend, would you like to have a copy of it? its a full version and works very well, although its not as good as cs2 i use it for alot of things

I emailed my computer repair teacher about it because we get free software from time to time and he has a copy i can have so problem solved
