deeky 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2009 Thanks for the comments. It is an actual coffee bean. I actually got the pattern from a British magazine that I get. According to the article, the author particularly liked it when fishing with the kids because it floats and they like to watch, as well as teh fact that their casting doesn't have to be great since beetles usually land with a splat anyway. Wish I could claim the creativeness on this one. It really does make a great looking beetle body. Deeky

Chase Creek 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2009 Great looking tie. I've used coffee beans before for the same type of fly, don't know where I saw it first, but think it's been around for a while. I wonder if it would work with other things, like peanuts? Or Mexican Jumping Beans to give it a little action? Thanks for posting that one.
smallieFanatic 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2009 Awsome, very creative fly, I would just be afraid the bean would be constantly splitting in half as I tie it
