My favorite leech of all times. It catches every thing from trout to walleyes.

Hook - Diachii 2220 size 2-4

Tail - Marabou

Body - Ice Chenille

"Throat" - Marabou

High Lights - Different colour marabou. (opp)

This is very easy to tie with a rotary vise. Oh how I miss mine. :(

Tricky Part

You have two options at this point

1) Place marabou around hook shank. Slim Body

2) Hackle Marabou Fat head

Slim Body Stile

Hi,

I am a very begginer in tying and I hope my elementary question doesn't bother you.

It is where you say:

"You have two options at this point

1) Place marabou around hook shank. Slim Body

2) Hackle Marabou Fat head

Slim Body Stile

..."

I don't understand, from my point of view looks like you did both of them.

Is it there only the slim body version?

thank you

Hi Ion

1st off welcome to the site!

There is not 2 versions off this fly, just two ways to get to the end result. In the step by step I used the slim body method by striping the marabou off the plum and tying it around the shank of the hook. As a result of using this method there is no big head in the fly because there is no stem. I use this method about 98% of the time.

The 2nd method is like tying a bugger or a soft hackle. What I mean by this is that you tie the head of the fly by wrapping the plum around the shank of the hook like you would with a hackle. As a result of the stem being in the fly it would have a little bigger head. This method I use when I add a bead behind the marabou.

Hope this helps.

Psst I don't know if I mentioned this in the original post ,but this pattern is meant for stiff marabou. The stuff you really wouldn't use for any of pattern.
