Old Hat 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 2 Days Left Swap is Full Due date: January 16th 2010. Please read below before signing up. FLY REQUIREMENTS 1. Start with a proven pattern (it has caught fish) 2. Add a bit of variation or use your own proven pattern (hence creative) 3. Deep water pattern (anything meant to be fished deep is OK) (no hairwings, no speys, etc.) SWAP SPECIFICS 1. First 15 with "I'm in" accepted 2. I must receive 14 flies and self addressed prepaid return envelope from each participant by the due date. (when selecting return postage, consider there may be weighted flies coming back to you.) 3. International participants welcome. PM me for return shipping, we can work something out. I have given 2 months for this swap to accommodate sign-up time, 14 flies, 3 holidays and international participants. Please be conscientious of the due date and the other participants. I will photograph and post pics of everyone's contributions into the Steelhead Forum unless you tell me otherwise by PM. I will update this opening post as participants chime in and flies arrive so just keep an eye out here. Let's fill 'er up! 1. Hairstacker 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 Well, coming up with a proven steelhead nymph pattern is easy enough but one of "your own pattern"? Afraid I don't have any of my own that have been "proven." -- Mike

Just trying to showcase some of the creativity on this site. Take a proven pattern and spruce it up a bit.

Old Hat 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2009 OK...OK.... I broadened the swap a bit to include variations of a proven pattern and am opening it up to eggs and leech patterns. Basically deep water patterns. We'll see if this helps it move along a bit.

Pelhament 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2009 In with a Mega Prince variation. 1) The Mega Prince is proven here in the Willamette Valley for steelhead year round 2) I have made a few tweaks that seem to make it more effective 3) It is heavy as an M'Fer and fishes deep.
