Flyfish Dog 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2010 Copied this from a old bass bug making book. Not as easy and a little sloppy with hairs on the head. I know what I need to do when I make a few more.
tidewaterfly 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2010 Looks like a variation of the Gerbubble Bug! Part of the problem is the shape of the head, but I've always liked the idea of the hackle down the sides. Makes them look a lot bigger than they are without adding much weight! Looking forward to seeing more! :headbang: What book did you find it in?
Flyfish Dog 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2010 Tying Bugs and Flies for Bass, A.D. Livingston. You are correct, its a Gerbubble bug that I shaped it a differently.
Stippled Popper 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2010 Did you strip half of two hackle sections and set one into the hardening clear coat on each side of the head?

Flyfish Dog 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2010 Did you strip half of two hackle sections and set one into the hardening clear coat on each side of the head? I finished the head first and then stacked2 section of hackles, one grizzly and HL Green. Add some fast setting glue in the pocket and gently squeezed the hackle stems in the slot. The hackle will fold itself. I am going to try a faster setting epoxy next time I do them.
