I Discovered Foam

I haven't posted iany pictures since I had to reregister my account... I mostly post in saltwater, however, have had a yen to fish the lake as of late and this is what I came up with.

 

 

Will be using the gurglers and bibolor bunnies in saltwater as well.

Thanks NJ, looking to give them a shot when I get back from Denver next week. Hit the salt today, way to windy for the fly, however, spinning tackle saved the day...plenty of speckled trout, blues and lady fish.

Panama, just noticed in the first 3 how the foam is wrapped and tied on the lead eyes......are the eyes tied on and then wrapped? or.... is the foam actually holding the eyes on. Also, does this configuration float with the head down attitude?

I'm not Panama but I think I can answer this. Those aren't lead eyes they are like doll eyes that you can find at any craft store. And he ties the foam in and then folds it over itself creating a little flap like object sticking out. and it is flat on both sides. He then takes some glue and goes the eyes on each side. so therefore he ties the foam on then superglues the eyes after he finishes the fly. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is a 3366. The one I posted pics of is not a great example to show of this pattern, I know I have better pics somewhere and can't find them! That white one was an early one that I didn't tie as well.

I can definitely tell you're a saltwater fisherman with all of the pinks in your flies.

Thanks for all the replies, I loved the fish porn...never a better sight than a fly you tied in a happy place!! I seem to get on a foam binge from time to time, it's cheap and the possabilities are only limited to your imagination.

 

My dad used to tie deer hair humpies and adams by the box to keep us fishing the trout streams and rivers surrounding Redding Ca., was always our go to pattern.

 

As a fellow forum member from Texas once said..."if it ain't pink, your hands won't stink" Lot of truth in tose words of wisdom, most of the patterns we fish on the flats have a tinge to a ton of pink in them somewhere.
