I absolutely love the look of traditional catskill flies, but I've never tied one.

If your willing to take on an enthusiastic Aussie, I'd love to play?

Thanks for hosting troutguy and allowing me to take part :D

I forgot to add I will be attempting a 'Queen of Waters' dedicated to Elsie Darby. I'll be tying a rendition as described by her.

Sounds scary but I am looking forward to it :yahoo:

Catskill dries. Yup. I love 'em, too. Like Boyer, I have too much on my plate but these are too delicious to pass up.

Count me in.

And thanks for hosting this one.

Pattern TBD

You're gonna have to add me to this one too.

I've been spending a lot of time tying thorax dries lately. I haven't spent much time on Catskill style dries and this sounds like the perfect way to discover some of the roots of American fly tying. I'm familiar with the more popular patterns, but would like to look into some lesser known patterns if I knew where to find them.

Was gonna ask where to find patterns, but I found a couple sites online that I THINK show some traditional Catskill patterns:

http://www.classictrout.com/

I think I might tie the Golden Dun.

troutnabout

You can buy Rhode Island Red capes from Dette Trout Flies. The feathers are easily stripped with a bleach solution.
