JustinCarf 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2013 I bought some EP fibers last week, and started tying with them. Very easy to work with, and fun. I love the patterns, and flies you're able to tie with this material. Here are 3 of my attempts at some shad, and bluegill. Hopefully, the bass will find these tasty. I just learned today that I can color on them with permanent marker. Future ones will have some stripes, and dots. Don't mind my backgrounds...I like to spice the pictures up a bit. This was my first attempt. This will be on the search for some monster bass. Second attempt with a smaller hook, and I added a little red bucktail underneth. Third attempt...there's some silver flash on the sides. Fourth attempt...Improving!

Phish 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2013 Looks good except the bottom one with conehead. Try starting farther up the shank and finish off into the conehead plus go up a few size to.

The next one I tied with these, I was going to do just that. What size hook do you think I should use? I've been using a size 1 Gamakatsu B10s hooks. Piker20 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2013 I think Phish meant upsize your bead. Normally the bead will be a true feature at the front of the fly. Here is chart with suggested bead size to hook size. It helps with proportions but remember no hard and fast rules. 1/16"....1.5mm ....20-265/64th" ...2.0 mm 16-203/32" .....2.3mm 14-187/64" .... 2.8mm 12-161/8" .....3.3mm 10-143/16" ...3.8mm 6-103/16" ....4.8mm 2-81/4" .....6.4mm 1/0-
