troutguy 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2013 The fall season renews trout fishing in North Carolina. The weather cools down to almost a chill (not by Yankee standards), the rain fall raises the water levels and the colors are beautiful. Went fishing and skipped work Thursday. Caught Browns, Brooks and Rainbows. I love the color of smaller Rainbows. Many small pools on this creek. some just big enough to hide a small trout others that were very deep and held some pretty large fish. This water gets a great deal of pressure even being in the mountains. I had to wait for a man to fish the pool where I caught the one Brown. His small nymphs under a strike indicator did not entice the same fish that my streamer (a little too heavy for a 6'6" bamboo but what the heck) dredged along the bottom produced. A nice Brook Trout and the fall leaves on the water. A little bigger Brook Trout with nice fin color. This fat Rainbow needed a net. Love the color. A Rainbow swirls before being landed. They don't get any prettier than this. Fish on. This is an Orvis Flea that I got tired of the reel dropping off so I added a reel seat and my old 1492DA. Nice Brown Trout that doesn't want to be caught. This Brown fell for a sculpin. Hey why don't you try this pool. My dog Hope looking for small critters. Apparently Brittany's will retrieve crawfish when quail or woodcock aren't around.

troutguy 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2013 Friend Pete Sakes I actually had two fishing companions. Hope is my Brittany. I saw Pete catch at least one. He fished upstream and Hope and I went down stream.
netabrookie 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2013 Great pictures. I have started to get my NC license so many times in the past but I always just stay a little north and fish here in Virginia, but after seeing what I am missing, I am going south soon. troutguy 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2013 I am going to Wilson Creek tomorrow with a guy I have never fished with. Wilson is a great destination. NC is a big state with a lot of great fishing. I wished South Carolina had more trout.

Spanky29ca 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2013 Great pictures, really enjoyed them. Some really nice fish. Brits may make good fishing partners but they are also fantastic for rounding up fly tying material!! Gorgeous dog. I have to ask, is your friends name actually Pete Sakes? troutguy 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2013 Thank you Spanky. My Brit is my loving companion and she is great on birds as well. I wished we had grouse but all we have are woodcock and the occasional quail.
